Introduction
This document sets out the privacy policy of “3elm”, a platform that helps teachers in Kuwait track their students and manage classroom questions. We take care to protect the data of our visitors and users within the limits permitted by law.
Data we collect
We may collect basic information such as your email address when you sign up, as well as non-personal technical data such as your browser type to improve the experience.
Teacher accounts and class data
When a teacher account is created, we collect the name and email address. When a teacher uses “My Classes”, we store what the teacher enters: students’ names as the teacher writes them (students have no accounts and no email addresses), points, attendance, groups and quiz round results, and students’ photos if the teacher chooses to upload them. Photos are kept in a protected folder after being resized and re-encoded, and are shown only to the class owner.
Only the teacher who created a class can see its data, and the same applies to the questions and images in “My Questions”. A teacher can permanently delete any student, or a whole class with all its data, at any time. We recommend that teachers follow their school’s policy when entering student data.
Student accounts
When a student account is created, we collect the name, the email address and the grade (if given), as well as a record of the lessons and quizzes the student viewed on the site (stored in the student’s own browser). We use this data only to provide the student with a personal account, show content suited to their grade and follow their progress. This data is never shared with any third party. Anyone under eighteen must sign up with a parent’s consent. To request deletion of a student account and all its data, please contact privacy@3elm.org.
How we use data
Collected data is used to provide the educational service, improve the platform’s performance and contact users when needed. We do not share user data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your rights
Any user may ask to view, correct or delete their data by contacting the site administration.
Updates
This policy may be updated from time to time, and any material change will be published on this page.
